Evaluation

  • Launched from August 2024 to February 2025, the Family Sign at Home project delivered six weeks of one-hour sessions in the family home and/or online with deaf children and their family members across England and Wales. The results are remarkable.
  • Involving a total of 52 deaf children and 193 extended family members, the Family Sign at Home project demonstrated how the sessions brought huge benefits to the families by teaching them British Sign Language at home. It provided a holistic support to them.
  • 96% of parents felt they had learnt ‘as much as’ or ‘more than’ they hoped from the project.
